This is the first half of an intimate tale of how Gwendolyn Collins has become the Heretic. It also covers a number of her own insecurities, including the jealousy she has for one very particular Grafter. Intimacy is hard to come by for many. I hope you enjoy this story. Part two will be up next week!

”Why do I have to go there?”
”You’re sick, sweetie. We’re going to get you help. Father Hagen said this is for the best.”
”But I’m not sick. I don’t feel anything.”
”It’s a sickness you don’t understand yet. You will soon and the Lord will once again shine his light
down on you.

Zoe Richards still didn’t understand. The eighteen year old was still replaying that conversation from
eight years ago with her mother. In that time frame, the college freshman only grew unsure of herself.
More disgusted. Like she was doing something wrong that was causing her constant uncertainty. She
always asked herself, what d

Forward:
This adventure is a big hat-tip to my favorite television series, ‘Babylon 5’. Much of the adventure is based directly on the season one episode titled ‘Mind War’, written by series creator J. Michael Straczynski. While this adventure incorporates a lot that I loved from that particular episode, there is one piece of dialogue that I could not work into the script.

During an exchange between two characters, this little piece of insight was shared, “No one here is exactly what he appears to be.” This cou

While most of the students spent their time in the cramped and competitive cafeteria, Gwen and company preferred to enjoy lunch in the drama class. The school had no facility to host a play. Space was very much a premium inside the Manhattan area. When the school did fund an annual play, which wasn’t often, it would network with facilities beyond New York City. This usually landed the Mason Ridge drama facility inside of Fairfield. No matter what they did, the drama club productions operated on a shoe-string budget. This still did not dampen the enth

Heroes come in many shapes and sizes. Perhaps most people think of the bold and dashing man as the stereotype hero. He is someone who is willing to brave large amounts of gun fire in order to save the woman that he loves. Such a person wouldn’t feel fear or despair. He would be a sort of captain of courageousness. The truth is that heroes rarely look or behave like that.
Heroes are not always faced with perilous odds that require a sort of hyper violence for resolution. Some of our best and noblest heroes did not rely on brute force to win the day. A grandmother who watches her grandchildren when the parents must work is a hero. The nurse who suggested that the surgeon go home after a raging eighteen hour shift is a hero. The kid who bought a soda for the c

Code Seven-R.
For Doctor Richard Hayashi, this was a call to rally. It called for a set of actions to take place. The first action of which was to put on some decent clothes. While it was important to at least be presentable for such meetings, the urgency of their call did not usually allow for splendid things like hygiene. Richard Hayashi had to settle for a quick spray of deodorant and hope that was enough to keep any undesirable musk down. The call would then require him to arm his security system and leave his apartment. He would then head down to the subway station and board one of the north bound trains that led out of Manhattan and into the greater New York area. Once he reached his stop, he would proceed on foot to what was otherwise a non-descript office

"No one that’s ever read the Bible has ever stayed an atheist."
I love the irony in this statement.
